The What and the Why of the Darklight Chronicles

A finger reaches out toward a light bulb. The lightbulb's filament is glowing and on fire. It zaps the finger with a glowing electrical arc.

What if I Could?

Inspiration strikes in the strangest of places. On February 21, 2020, I watched the season 7 opening for the Clone Wars. Captain Rex said the fateful words, “I think Echo’s alive,” and my brain started cooking. I had a thousand what ifs. If my husband died, could I fall in love with a clone of him? Would mind control magic have stopped the clone army from inflicting order 66? Do you think all the boys in the Grand Army have the same taste in women? What if they just let all the women run things? What would be different if I wrote the story? What if I could?

It was much more fun to ponder these questions than to deal with the real-world shit show going on. I wrote a lot of fanfics during this time, nearly 400k words of the stuff. But fandom is limiting. No one wanted original characters. There was hate thrown around for both first and third-person point-of-view. And as they say, “No one hates Star Wars as much as a Star Wars fan.” While my followers and viewers were growing with time, I wanted more. This involved original characters and getting the fuck out of the galaxy far, far away. I was playing with the idea of a polyandrous matriarchal society, gene splicing, old cosmic horrors, and clones of a unique flavor. Somehow, I ended up with a failed earth in the far future told by the leader of a polyandrous clan Mother and her husbands. Remnant’s Bond is a revenge heist that features an angry messy girl putting pieces of the galaxy and her family back together.

Why you Might Like it

First, let’s get cool about some things real quick. If you’ve made it here, I’m going to say the chances are high that you’ve read a few spicy stories before. If you’re not in that camp or think that romance is merely plotless ‘mommy porn’, then I’m going to kindly ask you to exit the vehicle. I wish you well, but this isn’t the place for you.

You might like this book if you’ve felt an all-consuming anger at the state of your world and wanted to do something about it. Some things on my angry FMC’s to-do list are smashing the patriarchy, sexy time with an older model of your husband, doing mind control against the big evil institution, falling for an alien hybrid with a tentacle beard and a heart of gold, dealing with intrigue and betrayals, and vengeance via the biggest heist in the galaxy. And that’s just book one.

Of course, Isha can’t do this alone. She’s got a mind-controlled clone, a cinnamon roll pirate captain, his reluctant boss, and a sassy ship’s AI. There’s no third act breakup because the stakes are too high for petty misunderstandings, and thanks to the powers of far future space contraceptives, nobody gets pregnant. This is a line where high-stakes adventure and spicy romance meet. And if that sounds like a good time, I’ll let you know that the pre-sale is up for the e-book, and it all goes live on July 8th.
